Movie Poster Mastery Quest
I chose to do my movie poster comparisons on the movie "HairSpray". The first original movie of "HairSpray" Came out in 1988, while the remake of this movie came out in 2007. I have posted both pictures of the movie posters that were used to advertise these movies. "HairSpray" made in 1988 is on the left while "HairSpray" in 2007 is displayed on the right.
Each poster gives a different impression. The poster from 1988 is kind of boring and plain. It is not colorful and only shows two peoples bottom half that seem to be dancing and wearing sixties clothing. This poster also provides critics opinions of the movie such as "outrageous!" and "the 60's comedy that shows no mercy!" These are to show people that the movie is funny and they are there to try and get people to go see that movie. The impression that the poster from 2007 gives is different, this poster is very colorful and has a lot to look at. It is not plain whats so ever and it also has pictures of the lead characters whom also happen to be very famous actors and actresses of the time. These pictures of the characters are what get the people to go see this movie, rather than the critics comics like on the 1988 version.
The only consistency of the two posters that I could find is the 60's style of clothing.
Like I said before the original was designed for the audience by adding critics comments about the movie being hilarious, which would make people want to go see that movie. It also shows people who are dancing therefore it targets an audience that likes more of a comedy movie. While the remade version in 2007 is very bright and colorful and it gets its audience by showing the big actors that are playing in this movie. Those actors are all very famous during this time period and most are famous for acting in comedy movies. By showing the audience that these big stars are in this film it will target people who enjoy these actors and it will make the movie seem very famous because of the big time stars that are playing in it. It also is targeted at an audience that enjoys comedy.

3D Game Lab Paper
3D Game
Lab
What I enjoyed most about 3d
game lab was that it actually made class fun and it kept me interested and on
task at the same time. I like how everyone has access to all students game
profiles, also I like the avatar that we were able to choose. The badges were
simple and the instructions of how to receive the badges (what quests to
complete) made it simple for me to stay on track with the class. One thing that
I think should be changed or updated were instructions of how to complete the
quests themselves, not all of the quests were difficult but some were difficult
to understand simply because of the way the instructions were worded. The DIY
was sometimes really difficult as well to understand. What I liked most about
3D game lab was that I could do it at my own pace and my work was looked at
individually, it helped me learn and fix my mistakes and then learn from them.
I enjoyed the “treasure map” of the class as well, even though that is not on
3D game lab I thought I would throw that into the mix as well, I referred to
the treasure map every time I was confused on something (mostly when something
was due). I also like how we each used our personal blogs to post our assignments
on it was simple and easy to access and it organized all of my assignments for
me so that I didn’t have to, kind of like an online folder for my work. Overall
3D game lab is an awesome teaching tool and I really enjoyed using it for this
class. I am excited to share my experience with it to my future teachers and
pupils and I hope that someday it will catch on and maybe even become a new way
of teaching!

Negative Pop Culture Quest
It took me awhile to find a section of pop culture which I found was negative towards society. I finally thought of video games and linked them to my little brother and his love for playing video games such as Call of Duty. I think that games such as Call of Duty have a negative impact on American society because they are teaching people to be mean, aggressive, and violent. This has been a question that many parents have found unanswered because nobody really can pin point violence in people to this violent games.
I was researching this subject and came across a Bostons Hospital Pediatric Health Blog and in this blog a parent has asked "How do these video games impact teen boys?" The doctor whom replies to this question explains that some people who play the violent games, "tend to expect the world to be a meaner place, and they become disconnected and less caring people." I agree with this statement because of the violence that I have seen in my little brother, age 14, and I do believe that it is caused from his obsession of playing Call of Duty. I believe that people get angry while playing these games and their anger can leak into other aspects of their life such as school and their family.
Another statistic from Youth Development that I found while researching this topic explains that, “The latest brain research shows that violent games activate the anger center of the teenage brain while dampening the brain’s conscience." This can cause people to strengthen their anger center of the brain while the conscience center of the brain is being neglected therefore in real life situations the person because more angry and cannot concentrate correctly and make rational decisions correctly. To support my opinion on anger over coming the self-control part of the brain I found a news article, Does game violence make teens aggressive? from NBC news that has done research of the brain and has photos of the two different brains, one from a teenager whom is not playing a video game and one who is,

I found this Website very helpful and quite persuasive in my opinion that video games are making teenagers more violent by under developing their self-control and attention. I know many people do not think that video games have an affect on kids or even adults because it is not real life and people should be able to distinguish that it is not real life. I think that these people that play so many video games forget that they even have a "real life" and they begin to become violent and un social. I have seen this happen first hand with my brother and I think that it is a negative effect on the American society.

everybody googles quest
Document #1:
1. What search strings did you try? For the first document I tried searching "daughters of American revolution" I also tried searching for the date"February 26 1939"
2. I didnt find anything until I actually read the document more closely and read that whoever wrote the letter was resigning so I searched "resigning from daughters of American revolution" and Elenore Roosevelt came up and it showed the document.
3. Wikipedia was the first link to come up with I searched and it was useful and somewhat credible information about the daughters of American revolution but not necessarily for the document I was trying to find.
4. This document seems credible because I was able to find who wrote it and even the story behind why Elenore Roosevelt wrote this letter.
Document #2
1. The search strings that I tried for this document were mainly "jail convicts" "background map" "escaped convicts" "road map of jailed in mississippi" I searched for a very long time on this document and I couldnt find anything about it
2. I finally found the document by searching " background map arrested" "april 22 December 1" and it was like the sixth link down the page.
3. This first link that came up was once again Wikipedia about some chick named brownie mary. This didnt have anything to do with my document I searched through the google search suggestions until I finally found the document of 1961 freedom rides map from the American treasures of the library of congress.
4. This document is credible because it is in the American Treasures of the Library of Congress.
Document #3
1. For this document I tried searching police reports in Montgomery and then I also searched J.F. Blake and it came up right away with Rosa Parks being fined for refusing to follow the bus drivers directions.
2. This document was very easy to find. I just searched the main points of the document, date name and Montgomery police report, and it was the very first link that appeared.
3. The very first link that came up was about Rosa Parks police report so I clicked it and the document was right there. It was very easy to find easier than document two because it is probably more well known than document #2
4. This document seems credible because it has the name and date of when the incident happened plus it was so easy to find that it seems credible.
Document #4
1. This document was rather easy to find as well. I searched "role call of the 88th congress house of reps"
2. I couldn't find the document on the first page of the normal search. So I decided to try and go to google images and there it was! On the second page I found the role call sheet of civil rights act of 1964 that was passed on feb 10 1964 and passed by a vote of 290 to 130.
3. The very first link that came up was nothing that I was looking for, it was a website of congress and house of reps that I had no idea what it was talking about. I had to search through the pages of google to find what I was looking for and I used the google "image" tab to try and find the image which then brought me to the website which happened to be wikipedia!
4. Although some people do not think that Wikipedia is credible I have to disagree, I think that Wikipedia is very useful for certain searches such as historical documents. Wiki showed me not only the image I was looking for but it gave me information about what the document was used for and it also gave me information about the bill that was being passed and the background of that bill.

My Love Mark Quest
It took me awhile to figure out what how to consider something as a "love mark". As we talked about in class a love mark is something that someone uses a product for more than the product it self. They use that certain brand, or that certain coffee shop, or that certain store because it is their life-style, or its connected personally to that person somehow. After doing research on others love marks I found that I have a love mark of my own! I didnt even realize until we had to do this assignment. My love mark is Chevrolet or for short "Chevy". My entire family has owned chevys and I have always grown up around them. My dad has always owned a chevy truck while my mother has always own a chevy car. So when time came around for me to buy my own car of course what I bought was a Chevy! I never really even thought about why I went with Chevrolet until I was assigned this quest though... They are dependable and my whole family owns them and swears by how awesome they are! Anways I think you get the point but here is a picture of my very own Chevy Aveo that I bought a couple years ago... and its my baby! :)
Chevy means family to us by connecting the safety and reliability of the cars and trucks to the American values that my family holds as well. My family is big about buying American brand products as well so that plays a big role as to why my family loves Chevy so much. I found this link of this AD that kind of fits what im trying to say. :)

We are all doomed quest
Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant are reality shows on MTV about young teenage mothers troubled lives of being a teen mom, and is displaying a negative effect on those teens watching the show by encouraging teenage pregnancy in order to gain their 15 minutes of fame of being on television. This article describes Teen Mom as "relatively simple and about what you would expect. A group of teens who
have recently given birth get followed by MTV’s cameras to see what
their daily lives are like." It shows how these girls are struggling financially, emotionally, with their relationships, with their families, etc. Which at one point of view is educational for teens to see what it is like to be a teenage mother and the difficulties and hardships that come along with being a teen mom. At the same time thought it also puts the lime light on these teen moms and in some cases brings them to fame.
This articles explains this by stating that in order for new episodes of teen mom to come out then new teen mothers have to be getting pregnant, and if a teen girl wants to be on MTV then all she has to do is go get knocked up. "In a recent story first reported on AOL’s PopEater, a source revealed MTV is looking to
ride out the success of Teen Mom” and 16 and Pregnant by
finding a new crop of teen moms willing to have their lives taped by
the network. Of course, to do that they’ll need a new crop of teens with
babies on the way" The secondary source that this article uses convinced me that there are girls whom are just getting pregnant in order to be on MTV. Here is the link to that article. http://www.popeater.com/2010/12/07/teen-mom-pregnant-auditions/. Other supporting evidence that this article uses to support the thesis that teen moms are getting pregnant on purpose to just get on TV is by using well known authors such as Rabbi Shmuely Boteach, a friend of the late Michael Jackson and author
of 'Kosher Sex,' and their thoughts on teenage girls getting pregnant. Rabbi agrees and states "This is out of control celebrity culture. Reality TV first began by
exploiting people's problems, assuming they would do anything for fame.
The idea of teenage girls getting pregnant to be on television shows
that reality TV is going a step beyond exploiting problems. It is now
creating the problems."
In order to verify the supporting evidence that this article used I tried looking up information on Rabbi Shmuely, and I actually found a lot of useful information that helped me decide that he is a credible person to listen and agree with his take on Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant. I found an article from Oprah actually that he is explaining what it is like to be a new mother and giving advice about being a mother. Which leads me to believe that he really knows his stuff! He is educated on motherhood and knows what to expect when someone becomes a new mother. Because of his knowledge of knowing about motherhood it reinforces my thoughts of teen moms trying to get pregnant to be on MTV and it also reinforces me to believe what he is saying is true. Here is the link to the interview with Rabbi Shmuely about advice on being a new mom. http://www.oprah.com/relationships/Rabbi-Shmuley-Boteach-Advice-for-New-Moms
Reading Quest #2
"If a tumor in the prefrontal cortex can totally change someones behavior and change their life completely, then maybe those whom are in prison for being rapists, or those teenagers who just party and sleep around do these things because of the development of their prefrontal cortex?"
The prefrontal cortex is in charge of making decisions, planning complex cognitive behavior, personalities, expressions, etc. It truly is what separates us from every other animal in the world. We can make decisions and feel more and have very distinct personalities. But these decisions that are made and the different type of personalities each person has varies dramatically from person to person. I asked the question that if it is possible that the reason people whom do awful crimes and take drugs and party and do these types of things is simply because of the way their prefrontal cortex is developed? Maybe it is not 100% their fault and maybe we shouldnt be punishing them for not being able to distinguish what decision to make and how they feel. Not that I am saying that they shouldnt be punished for committing these crimes but perhaps they should be getting different kind of help rather than just being locked away for a few years in prison. Perhaps there is a different kind of method that we can use to help these people develop their prefrontal cortex so that they can make what society would claim "the RIGHT decision" To answer my question I did research and I found this website, "Maturation of the PreFrontal Cortex" It showed me the different responsibilities the prefrontal cortex has and how lack of maturation can differ the decisions that people make. I believe that if people can realize that they are this way because it is simply how their brain is "wired" and that through counceling and therapy we can help these people distinguish what to do in certain situations and how to control their intense emotions with correct decision making that it would make a much bigger impact in their lives rather than just locking people away in prison or suspended their licenses or kicking them out of school, etc. We are just pushing the issue far away by doing this to people, we should try and get them the help they need and help them understand why they are making this decisions and it can also help us understand they people make these decisions. Overall I think it is amazing how a single tumor pressed up against the prefrontal cortex can completely alter someones life, like the example in the book about the girl whom was going to an Ivy league school all of a sudden began partying and sleeping around when her normal behavior would have never been like this, just a little change to the prefrontal cortex alters who we are and I believe that is why people are so dramatically different and why they make decisions they make, its not their fault that their brains are developed this way and we need to remember this and try to help them rather than just putting them away with the "crazy" people.

Alien Tour Guide hum 101
Alien Tour Guide Essay
By: Paige Cornwall
And
Cherice Gaviglia
While
doing the Alien Tour Guide Cherice and I chose to tell our alien about the
library. Our first original question was that “This is the library, this is
where we study” the alien then asks why and Cherice and I had to sit and think
about all the times that we have been in the library and why we were there. The
first assumption that we came up with was that we just always go straight to
the library when we need to study we have never sat there and thought about why
we go to a certain place to study. After doing the alien tour guide we realized
we go to the library because it is the most convenient place because it is
quiet and we have resources such as books and computers to use if we need them.
We have always just headed straight to the library to study it was never a
question of “Why are you going to the library?” It is just an assumption that
we would go to the library because that is what is normal to us, therefore it
we do not question it. The second assumption that we came up with was the last
question that we asked which was “We are trying to improve our knowledge so
that we can have a good paying career and nice possessions for ourselves and
our future families." The assumption that we got from this question was that
we have never gone to the library and thought to ourselves “were going to the
library so in the future my future family can have nice things..” we just go to
the library because we feel that it is
what we are supposed to do, we have never thought about the bigger picture of
why we were even studying the material in the first place.
